Photograph it, say why it's worth seeing, and it goes on the map as a Cool Tree, found by you. Anybody can add to it after that.

Where it is

Show on the map

Whitchurch, Herefordshire

The position comes from a survey, so expect to be within a few metres rather than standing at the trunk.

Is this the one?

What to check when you get there.

  • It should be a wild service tree.
  • It has several stems rather than one trunk, so look for a clump growing from a single base.
  • The position came from a surveyor, so it can be a few metres out. If two big trees are close together, the girth usually settles it.
