The position comes from a survey, so expect to be within a few metres rather than standing at the trunk.
Is this the one?
What to check when you get there.
- It should be a sessile oak.
- It's 5.3 m round the trunk, about 4 people holding hands round it. That's the easiest check there is.
- It's a maiden: one trunk, never cut back, so look for a single tall stem.
- People round here may know it as Y Dderwen Meurig, and there's sometimes a sign.
- The position came from a surveyor, so it can be a few metres out. If two big trees are close together, the girth usually settles it.
