The position comes from a survey, so expect to be within a few metres rather than standing at the trunk.
Is this the one?
What to check when you get there.
- It should be a common lime.
- It's 3.4 m round the trunk. That's the easiest check there is.
- It's a pollard: cut back at about head height long ago, so look for a thick trunk ending in a knuckle, with branches all growing out of that one level.
- People round here may know it as Tremough avenue, and there's sometimes a sign.
- The position came from a surveyor, so it can be a few metres out. If two big trees are close together, the girth usually settles it.
